Lamborghini Estoque Concept

October 24, 2008 |16:59 | Lamborghini  By : Team X

The Lamborghini of which you’ve been seeing teaser images over the last few days was finally unveiled yesterday at the Paris Motor Show. Called the “Estoque” (as expected,) the new Lambo is a four-door sedan (also expected.) Not something I’m particularly estoked about (get it?) but it is still a concept, so based on press and consumer response, it may or may not go into production as-is.

From what I gather, most press is rather critical of the new concept car, and I’m going to have to follow suit. Not that the concept is ugly by any means; it’s just unremarkable. And a Lamborghini needs to be remarkable in design.

Lamborghini Reventon takes on fighter jet

December 10, 2007 |11:23 | Lamborghini  By : Team X

An extraordinary race between a Lamborghini Reventón and an A200-A Tornado aircraft has been held on a 3km-long runway at a military base near Brescia in Italy. The Reventón took the lead in the first leg of the race, but the Tornado caught up in the last few meters, taking off and flying over the Reventón, which traveled at a speed of over 211mph at that point.

Lamborghini: The 1.38 Million Dollar Ride

September 15, 2007 |10:14 | Lamborghini  By : Team X

tHow's this for exclusive? Lamborghini unveils its newest model today in Frankfurt, Germany with a pricetag of $1.38 million. And here's the best part: Lamborghini has already sold out ALL 20 of its new million dollar ride. (Check out the slideshow below)Lamborghini's Reventon (pronounced: re ben ton) is a virtual rocket on wheels: 650 horsepower, goes 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and has a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph). Your basic ultimate sports car.Why would Lamborgini build this version of its Murcielago LP640? And more importantly who will pay over a million bucks for this car? When I visited the Lamborghini headquarters outside Bologna, Italy back in July, I was struck by something CEO Stephan Winkelman told me. He called his line-up of super sports cars the "salt" drivers want. After spending a week in Italy driving a Lamborghini, the flavor is intoxicating. There are few things that match driving 150 mph in the Italian countryside and watching the Lamborghini ahead of you pull away at 190 mph.As for who is buying the 20 Reventon models that will be built? More than half are in the U.S. and I wouldn't be surprised if many are in Southern California. Three weeks ago I drove the California coast with many of these Lambo lovers. For them, the beauty of this car is less the status that goes along with driving a Lamborghini, and more about pushing their ultimate rides to the test on extended drives.Somehow, I won't be surprised if some of the Lamborghini owners I met in California are among the 20 paying over a million for the new Reventon.

Heffner Performance Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo & Ford GT

July 6, 2007 |11:27 | Lamborghini  By : Team X

Few would doubt the fact that the Lamborghini Gallardo with its V10 and the Ford GT with its blown V8 are fast right out of the box. However, owners who want more than stock performance can get it at Heffner Performance. Motor Trend tasted two sweet rides from Heffner that use twin-turbo chargers. The Gallardo is available in two packages, the Twin Turbo 600 making 600 HP goes for $27,999 while the 700 HP Twin Turbo kit goes for $54,999. the 700 HP kit can hit 60MPH in a blistering 3.1 seconds and gets to 100 MPH in only 7.5 seconds ultimately hitting the quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at 129MPH.The Ford GT uses twin turbos as well and the kit promises to deliver a tire melting 800HP. With that much power on tap wheel spin is copious to say the least and MT recorded a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and the beast hit 150MPH in a mere 12.6 seconds. Imagine that, 150 MPH in the same time it probably takes you family car to hit 60 MPH. Via Motor Trend

Lamborghini Murcilago LP640 Roadster Gets Road Tested

May 7, 2007 |19:48 | Lamborghini | New Launches  By : Arshad Ali Khan

The New Sporty Roadster - Lamborghini Murciélago LP640

Features:
Make: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster
Model: LP640
Origin: Los Angeles, USA
Price: £212,000
Availability: now available
Major Rivals: Pagani Zonda Roadster F, Bentley Azure, Spyker C12 Spyder

Characteristics:
Outrageous, completely impractical and more attention grabbing than running through Trafalgar Square clothed entirely in £50 notes. We love it.
Pros: Spectacular looks, sensational performance, surprisingly benign to drive
Cons: Massive price. You’ll always be afraid to take it anywhere nor would you carry valuable stuff with you.

Other Features

The rear window is fixed, as are the side buttresses. From a low-enough angle, it's hard to tell whether you've got the coupe or the roadster. As a result, the Roadster is more like the Murciélago coupe with the roof panel chopped out – and a hunk of canvas shoved in the trunk in the front of the car. In fact, this model of Lamborghini will fly off at over 160 km/h anywhere.

Performance  & Handling

With the rear-biased torque distribution, it is still possible to hang the tail out if you're talented. But you’ll have to keep in mind that there is no directional stability control on this car. Prance out there on the edge of adhesion and you will be prancing solo.
No toddling around LA freeway traffic and letting the car shift for itself here. Also that the eGear steering column paddles works perfectly well. It is actually the Sport model which makes the shifts faster gets the liking of all sport lovers. Besides the revised suspension makes the car all the more  comfortable. The sports seats are thinly-padded, so your bumps will appreciate the frequent re-fuelling stops.
